Nuriye Gülmen detained for 8th time

ANKARA – Academic Nuriye Gülmen, who has launched a protest by saying, “I have been suspended from duty, I want my job back” has been detained for eighth time on the ninth day of her protest.

Academic Nuriye Gülmen, who has been suspended from her duty at Selçuk University through the statutory decree issued in the State of Emergency, has been detained for eighth time on the ninth day of her protest today. Again, Nuriye went to in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Avevue with a banner reads, “I have been suspended from duty, I want my job back”. Police detained Nuriye for eighth time by battering her.

In today’s protest, Nuriye also protested the death of two and a half-year-old baby of starvation in Samsun. Nuriye said, “There are so many stories of injustice in this country. Millions of stories we have never heard in prisons, construction, city centers and homes. We just heard one of them. A two and half-year-old baby died of starvation in Samsun. The mother says my other children are also hungry. This system just produces injustice not more.”
