Prison sentence sought for Delila’s mother

AMED – A case was opened against Gülsuma Güçer, mother of the YJA Star member Delila, for giving an interview on curfew declared in Silvan to Hasan Cemal. Nine-year prison sentence is sought for Gülsuma on charges of “praising Delila mentioned in banned book."

A case has been opened against Gülsuma Güçer (63), mother of the YJA Star member Şenay Güçer (nom de guerre Delila), dismissed Silvan Municipality Co-mayor Zuhal Tekiner and the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Council member Mehmet Ali Dünser for giving an interview on the curfew declared in silvan in 2015 to journalist and writer Hasan Cemal. In two-page indictment prepared by the Public Prosecutor of Diyarbakır and accepted by Diyarbakır 4th High Criminal Court, nine-year and six months prison sentence is sought for Gülsüma, Zuhal and Mehmet Ali on charges of “praising crime and criminal”. Meanwhile, the investigation file opened against Hasan Cemal was sent to Istanbul for “lack of jurisdiction” because the article was published in Istanbul.

In the indictment, Gülsuma’s words, “Pain doesn’t end by saying… Especially the last 13-day curfew… Without electricity, water, bread… Sometimes, I couldn’t perform prayer.
