Five politicians jailed in Bingöl

ÇEWLIG – Five politicians, two of them women, arrested in the Genç district of Bingöl province have been placed in detention.

On October 23, in the Dara Hênê (Genç) district of Bingöl province police raided the central buildings of the HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) and DBP (Democratic Regions Party) and the district buildings for Dara Hênê and Kanireş (Karlıova). The politicians were held under arrest for five days. While eight were released yesterday, five of the politicians have been detained on charges of being “members of an illegal organization.

The five people—DBP Bingöl district co-chair Zeynep Yurtsever; DBP party assembly members Mizgin Çifçi and Feyzulah Şeyhanoğlu; HDP Genç district co-chair Ali Yaşar; and DBP district director Zafer Alçiçek—have been sent to Bingöl M Type Closed Prison.
