ŞIRNEX - Police violence continues in the Kurdish town of Silopi, where police have opened fire on civilians indiscriminately in the wake of a bombing targeting police.
Three died on Friday in the town of Silopi. Police blockaded and attack the Zap neighborhood, where youth had dug trenches to prevent frequent police raids and operations. Today, as an armored vehicle was carrying special police operations teams down Başak Avenue in the neighborhood, an explosion occurred. Four of the five police wounded in the bombing died in the hospital.
In the wake of the bombing, police have once again started randomly opening fire on houses in the neighborhood. A young man named TemerŞeflek has been seriously wounded, and was unable to reach the hospital due to the heavy police blockade. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) representatives intervened to get Temer to the hospital.
The police siege on the neighborhood is ongoing.
