KANDIL - A delegation of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) representatives and activists have traveled to the village of Zergelê, in Iraq's Federal Kurdistan Region, to investigate the bombing of a village by Turkish jets.

"The HDP delegation is at the site of the massacre right now and we can see from our observations that in this village, inhabited by civilians, at least six houses were targeted. Eight civilians were massacred and dozens were wounded. There is no doubt on this subject. Turkish warplanes have openly committed a massacre here," said Osman Baydemir, the HDP representative from Urfa.

Turkish jets bombed the village of Zergelê on August 1. Zergelê is located in the Qandil Mountains of Kurdistan. A delegationof politicians from Turkey's HDP have traveled to the village to analyze the deaths of civilians. The delegation met with the families of the deceased and the co-mayors of Qandil town. They also visited the wounded in hospital in the city of Hewler.

"Even now, the AKP government and its media are not calling this event a massacre. In official government statements, they say that only PKK guerrillas have been hit," said Osman. However, he noted, the delegation concluded with no doubt that a civilian massacre took place in the village.

"Everyone who says they are human, who has human feelings, needs to stand up against the war being waged by the Turkish state," said Osman. "The solution to the problem will only happen at the table. For this reason, we, as the HDP, are demanding that the dialogue and negotiations table overturned by the AKP be set up again."
