ISTANBUL - Activists from Women's Initiative for Peace have called for a noise demo to protest the Suruç massacre in Istanbul tomorrow.

Women will gather at the pier in Istanbul's Eminönü neighborhood at 7 p.m. on Thursday for a noise demo protesting the many massacres that have taken place in Turkey over recent years--from Reyhanlı to Diyarbakır to Suruç.

Initiative activist Öznur Subaşı said that the AKP's bellicose policies, the media's warmongering language and the interruption of the peace process in Turkey made it impossible for there to be peace in the country. She denounced the attack in Suruç as an attack on the volunteers who worked for peace through solidarity with Kobanê.

"We will continue to insist on the resolution process [for the Kurdish issue] and on our demands for peace, in order to multiply the voices of our friends who were massacred and to multiply the call for peace," said Öznur.
