Death toll rises to 32 in Suruç massacre

RIHA - After another death in the hospital today, the death toll of the bombing in Suruç, Turkey has risen to 32.
The bombing of a culture center in the town of Suruç, Turkey yesterday targeted a group of youth activists hoping to travel to the city of Kobanê to help rebuild in the wake of a Daesh siege.
An initial report by Turkey's Ministry of Internal Affairs gave the death toll of the bombing as 28, but the number has since risen. By the time Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu spoke yesterday evening, 30 had died; when Numan Kurtulmuş, the Deputy Prime Minister spoke, it was 31. Today, the confirmed death toll has risen to 32. 20 of the victims' identities are known.
Among the dead are Duygu Tuna, a Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) activist and local co-chair of the party for the Maltepe district of Istanbul. Another victim was Ferdane Kılıç, a HDP activist, and her son Nartan. Ferdane's husband Metin had run for Parliament with the HDP in June's election. Her daughter, Sinem Kılıç, was wounded in the attack.
Autopsies and investigations are ongoing at the state forensic medical institute in the city of Antep, near Suruç. The bodies of the victims will likely be sent to their families today.
