NEWS CENTER - The youth bombed in Suruç today had plans to build a library and parks in Kobanê, according to Pervin Buldan, a parliamentary representative with Turkey's Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).

300 members of the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations left Istanbul yesterday on their way of the city of Kobanê, Rojava, where they had plans to help with the reconstruction of the city. Kobanê has been devastated by a long siege by the gang Daesh.

The youth were guests at the Amara Culture Center. They were holding a press conference to announce that they would be crossing to Kobanê today, the day after the third anniversary of the revolution in Rojava. That was when a bomb exploded in the Culture Center garden, killing dozens.

Pervin Buldan is a parliamentary representative for the HDP from Istanbul. Pervin had met with the youth before they left.

"The youth had visited us. They said they had plans for the anniversary of the Kobanê victory and that they had met with the [provincial] governor and ministry about it," said Pervin. In the meeting, the youth had related to her their plan to build a library and a park in the city of Kobanê. They had started planning for the visit months earlier.

"Yesterday they called me again and said that they wanted to cross to the city today, and that they needed to meet with the governor about it," said Pervin. She said the party passed this along to the Urfa HDP representatives.

Meanwhile, Leyla Güven--a HDP representative from Urfa--also spoke on the massacre.

"As a state, if the Turkish Republic has not provided security, its responsibility for this is extremely serious," said Leyla. "There has been an immense massacre. There is uncertain information about the death toll. It's being said that there are none left alive from the group."
