Women bury YJA STAR guerrilla Sümeyye Abak

ŞIRNEX – Women said their farewells to YJA STAR guerrilla Sümeyye Abak (nom de guerre Nuda Cizîrî) in the city of Cizre, Turkey in a funeral ceremony.
YJA STAR guerrilla Sümeyye Abak died in May in the Xakurkê region of Kurdistan. After an autopsy in the city of Diyarbakır, a convoy of hundreds of vehicles bore her body to Cizre, in the province of Şırnak. Women bore her body on their shoulders to the cemetery.
"Nuda, a Kurdish girl who chose not to stay silent in the face of cruelty against her people, headed for the mountains of freedom to be the protector of her people and to defend an honorable life," said Mele Kasım Yiğit of the organization MEYA-DER, which supports the families of those lost in war in Mesopotamia.
