QAMIŞLO – One person is dead and three have been wounded after a suicide attack in the Rojava city of Qamişlo yesterday.

The attack targeted the local asayiş peacekeeping force office on Wedhê Street, in central Qamişlo.According to Ciwan Îbrahîm, head of the Rojava asayiş forces across the three cantons, the attack took place around 9 a.m. on Sunday. The attacker entered the office,killing the asayiş members on duty at the front door, then set off a suicide bomb belt inside the building.

Ciwan says initial crime scene investigations indicate that the attacker was not from Syria. He condemned the fact that Daesh gang members claiming to be working on behalf of Islam attacked their fellow Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan.

The three wounded have been hospitalized and are reportedly in good condition.
