YPG flag waves over Girê Spî

NEWS CENTER – YPJ/YPG and Burkan al-Firat forces have planted the YPG flag over the city of Girê Spî (Tel Abyad) after two years of Daesh occupation of the city.
The victory was the ultimate goal of an operation to free the western front of Cizîrê Canton from Daesh, an operation named after Commander Rubar Qamişlo. With the victory, YPJ/YPG forces and their allies have created a territorial link between the cantons of Cizîrê and Kobanê for the first time.
ANHA reporters following the developments in Girê Spî report that the city was freed from Daesh last night at 9:20 p.m. YPG commander Husên Koçer confirmed the report. After a pincer maneuver by YPJ/YPG forces approaching from the east and Burak al-Firat forces from the west, the city was liberated last night.After the liberation, forces began searching for remaining Daesh members.
YPG flags are currently waving from all the tall buildings in the city, as well as the strategic border gate with Turkey.
