ADANA – After a Syrian refugee woman was raped by her employer in the Adana province of Turkey, the woman reported the attack to the police. However, her attacker has fled.

M.D., fleeing the war in Syria, relocated to the district of Seyhan, in Adana province, where she began to work under the table in a physical therapy office. Her employer, also Syrian, raped the young woman on June 3rd in the office when there were no patients there.

"He said, 'If you tell your family or anyone else, I'll say you're defaming me. No one will believe you. Your family will be ruined; maybe they'll go back to Syria,'" said the young woman. When she said she would tell her family anyway, her employer fired her. She went to the police, but when they arrived at the physical therapy office, her attacker had fled.
