ÇANKIRI – In the province of Çankırı, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) parliamentary candidate Selvinaz Göçmen has been arrested.

Selvinaz headed to the polling station at the Cumhuriyet Anatolian High School when she received news that there was a lynch attempt against a HDP supporter there. Selvinaz reached the polls, where an older man asked her to come outside.

There, a group of around 50 people were attempting to lynch a HDP member, a local reporter explained. "After this attack, there were threats coming in to our friends working as observers at other schools," explained Selvinaz.

When Selvinaz was trying to stop the lynching, she was taken under arrest, she explained by phone. She is currently waiting for her lawyers to arrive.
