AMED – Women wounded in the bombing of a Diyarbakır Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) rally are calling for the trial of those responsible.
On Friday, a twin cluster bombing targeted the Diyarbakır HDP rally, wounding 416 and killing four. Women wounded in the bombing spoke to Diyarbakır about their hopes for the future and their determination to see their attackers punished.
Remziye Yıldız is currently hospitalized in Diyarbakır. She will be disabled for life in both her legs. Her son and husband both lost legs in the attack. Remziye says she knows who is behind the event that will change her life forever.
"[Erdoğan] wanted to turn Diyarbakır into Kobanê," said Remziye. "Erdoğan is behind this attack and he wanted to stop Kurds from going to the polls."
15-year-old Elif Çerçel still can't remember the moment of the explosion and is still in the effects of shock. She said she remembered that before the explosion, the crowd was joyous. The next thing she remembers is being in the hospital.
"The only thing I wanted was a beautiful world," she said. She said she is certain that the ones who are behind the bomb are either Erdoğan or his police.
Pembe Tektaş is one of three women in her family who were at the rally and now have serious wounds in their legs. She concurred that Erdoğan was behind the attacks.
"Our children get arrested and get long sentences when they haven't done a thing. Let the ones who are really responsible be tried," she said.
