ANKARA – Turkey's Constitutional Court has ruled in favor of a nurse who was fired after an unknown person opened a social media account in her name and shared alleged "sex videos."
The nurse filed a complaint with the constitutional court about after a state body removed her from public service for the alleged "sex videos." The court ruled that the woman's right to privacy had been violated by a state military court's investigation.
The court ruled that the 20th article of the constitution, pertaining to private life, should not be interpreted narrowly in the case, ruling in the nurse's favor in a major decision. They said that the woman, who was investigated in a military disciplinary body because of the position where she worked, had not been tried based on claims about her professional life, but about her private life and that this was a violation of her fundamental rights.
