NEWS CENTER – Dozens of women from around the world have contributed their spirit of struggle to Chilean rapper Ana Tijoux's latest video, for her song "Antipatriarca."
In the video, cis and trans women from around the world sing along to the song as they nurse their babies, make art, work as garbage collectors, DJ, box, dance and protest. One woman translates the words of the song into sign language, and some men are shown singing along to the song while doing housework.
The song, from Ana's 2014 album "Vengo," celebrates women's rebellion, strength and labor. "I don’t walk behind you, I walk beside you," Ana and countless other women sing in the video, which was made entirely by volunteer labor by women around the world.
Ana, born in 1977 to a Chilean family forced to migrate to France by the Pinochet coup, has a long history of making feminist hip-hop and rap. Her latest solo album, "Vengo," has been nominated for a Grammy award.
