NEWS CENTER – Women in Argentina are preparing for a massive day of action against femicide under the slogan "Ni Una Menos." Thousands of women are expected to take to the streets of Buenos Aires to demand and end to femicide.

In Argentina, 277 women were slain in 2014. A woman continues to be killed every 31 hours in the country. Today, the massive Ni Una Menos march will cross Buenos Aires to the country's congress to demand an end to the wave of femicides. There are Ni Una Menos demonstrations planned in at least 70 cities and towns in Argentina, as well as in Mexico and Colombia.

When 14-year-old Chiara Paéz was killed by her boyfriend on May 11 for being pregnant, it was the straw that broke the camel's back for Argentine women. A group of women artists and journalists (among them Florenica Abbate, Marina Abiuso, María Florencia Alcaraz and Ingrid Beck) started the #NiUnaMenos hashtag. It met with a strong response from Argentine women, who have been organizing for the last several weeks for a massive march.

The Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo are among the many women's and feminist organizations in Argentina and around the world expressing their support for the march, which will take place at 5 p.m. today.
