ŞIRNEX – The Saturday Mothers of the city of Cizre in the Şırnak province of Turkey gathered today for a 336th week to demand justice in the unsolved murders and disappearances of their loved ones.

The group gathers every week, bearing photographs of the disappeared, to demand an end to the impunity for the murderers of their loved ones. This week, the mothers demanded justice for the perpetrators in the forced disappearance of Hüseyin Teymurtaş, lost under custody in 1986.

"Hüseyin Teymurtaş was tortured by Turkish soldiers for 15 days," said Veysi Durgut, of the Cizre branch of the civil society group MEYA-DER. "He was released, but the soldiers denied and inhibited his treatment. 15 days later, they summoned him to the post. He has been lost since then. The family has not even found his bones."

Groups held similar demonstrations in Batman and Diyarbakır today, as they do every week.
