AMED – Beritan Canözer, a reporter for JINHA, was threatened by an unknown person while covering news in the town of Silvan in Diyarbakır province.
Beritan had been in the town of Silvan, population around 44,000, when she was threatened. She was alone on Diyarbakır Street around 8:50 p.m. with one another person. The individual approached her, saying "there's not much longer until your rope is drawn; just wait," and then walking away in an easy manner.
"I had never seen this person before and I don't know the reason for the threat," explained Beritan. The threat comes about a week after unknown individuals, thought to be associated with the far-right Islamic party Hüda-Par, made an armed threat against JINHA's reporter in the city of Batman, Zeynep Akın.
