RIHA- Members of the Peace Mothers Assembly traveled to Kobanê yesterday to support the reconstruction of the war-torn Rojava city.
22 activists of the Peace Mothers Assembly from the Northern Kurdish provinces of Amed, Batman, Mardin and Urfa crossed into Kobanê from the Kobanê Serxet (Mürşitpınar) border gate after gathering in the Suruç district of Urfa.
Peace Mother Hava Kıran, speaking in Suruç, said that they, as mothers who lost their children in Kobanê, were going there to support the city's reconstruction and to see the city their children died to defend. Hava said that they would hand over the 8,000 TL they have collected to the administration of Kobanê as a contribution to the reconstruction of the canton.
“We mothers also want to offer a contribution to the reconstruction, just like our children did to the victory," she said. "This contribution should be made by everyone. We must rebuild Kobanê at any cost, and turn the town, for which the blood of thousands was shed, back into a liveable place."
