QAMIŞLO – On Thursday, the people of Qamişlo in Rojava held a ceremony for Rahşan Eli Ahmed (nom de guerre Canfida), the Hesekê peacekeeper who lost her life foiling a Daesh bomb attack.

Rahşan, a member of the Hesekê Women's Asayiş forces, entered a clash with Daesh attempting to stop their bomb attack on the city. Thousands came to the ceremony for her in Qamişlo, including Rahşan's peacekeeper colleagues and YPG/YPJ fighters.

"We will always follow in the footsteps of these heroes, martyred in the cause of founding the independent Kurdistan they always longed for," said Ayten Ferhat, a colleague of Rahşan's in the asayiş forces, speaking at the ceremony.

Rahşan was buried among slogans of support.
