AMED – The traveling Filmmor Women's Film Festival will arrive at Diyarbakır, its fourth stop, on April 11.
The festival, which this year has the theme of "Women's Cinema, Women's Resistance, Resistance Cinema," started its tour of cities in Turkey on March 13 in Istanbul, marking its 13th year of bringing women's cinema to cities around Turkey and the world. After heading to the cities of Denizli and Bodrum, the festival will come to the Cegerxwîn Culture Center in Diyarbakır this weekend, with a slate of 18 films.
Films this weekend in Diyarbakır include German women's cinema luminary Margarethe von Trotta's "Rosa Luxemburg", the documentary "Ain't No Cinderellas!" on Turkish domestic workers' unionization struggle and short films on topics ranging from a 4-year-old Armenian girl's international journey to SlutWalk NYC.
The Diyarbakır festival will be organized in cooperation between Filmmor and JINHA, which has its headquarters in the city. After Diyarbakır, the festival will head to Adana on April 18 and Izmir on April 25.
