MÊRDÎN – The Women's Assembly at the Nusaybin city government is beginning a project to make women's perspective central to all municipal operations.

The Women's Assembly met today to form nine committees to develop women's role in the government of the city, which drew international attention this March when it hosted the launch of the international women's action the World March of Women.

Nusaybin co-mayor Sara Kaya says the Women's Assembly decisions will be foundational for decisions in the city council itself. The Women's Assembly, made up of women working at the municipality and in local neighborhood women's assembly, will form nine committees to work on issues of municipal concern including economics, environmental, external relations, social life, law, security, education and urban architecture.
