Silav died with her four friends on Kurmênc Mountain in Efrîn on May 28, 2013 while they were fighting against Daesh gangs. She will be remembered with her stance in life and struggle. She is a cornerstone in the women's struggle which is a significant stage in the worldwide behalf of the YPJ. Şaziye İbrahim had been a neighbor of Silav Efrîn before Silav joined the YPJ. Şaziye said, "Martyr Silav, don't be worrying yourself, many young people have taken your name and have continued to fight after you felt a martyr. When she was a child, I asked her "what will you be when you grow up". She said that she would be a doctor and she would treat the people. Indeed, she was a doctor for her people. We'll stay the course of our martyrs. Silav is the symbol of resistance for women."

Asmin stated that Silav took care of every person and said, "Once, we chatted and I understood how she takes care of her comrades. She was at the forefront in the figth against gangs. She was self-sacrificing. She wanted to be at the forefront everytime. Once, I told her "We also want to be at the forefront"; however, Silav objected that and said, "If something happens, first, it must be happened to me."
