Journalist Aysel Işık jailed!

ŞIRNEX – Journalist Aysel Işık, who was detained in Şırnak by special operation police, has been jailed for her posts on social media by the court.

Aysel Işık, former reporter of JINHA Women’s News, which was shut down by KHK decree, was detained in Şırnak yesterday. Aysel was in Yeni Neighborhood of Şırnak with the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MP Aycan İrmez and she was detained and forced into an armored vehicle by special operation police. According to reports, Aycan İrmez and lawyers asked the detention reason; however, police didn’t show any reason.

Aysel Işık was taken to Şırnak Police Headquarters and she was sent to the court last night.

Aysel, who is a student of Şırnak University and reported from Şırnak for long time, has been jailed on charges of “making propaganda of an [illegal] organization) for her posts on social media.
