SHENGAL – The operation, called “Revenge of the Yezidi Women" launched by Shengal Women’s Units (Yekîneyên Jinên Şengalê- YJŞ) has continued. Three women and five children, who were held captive by Daesh, have been rescued in the operation.

The operation to liberate villages of Shengal, called “Revenge of the Yezidi Women" launched on November 12 by Shengal Women’s Units (Yekîneyên Jinên Şengalê- YJŞ) has continued. Special teams launched an operation on the villages within the scope of the operation and inflicted a heavy blow on Daesh gangs.

Women special teams launched an operation after they found that women and children were held captive in one of the villagers whose name hasn’t been reported due to security reasons. In the operation, three women and five children, held captive by Daesh gangs, have been rescued. The women and children were safely transported to their families. The operations have been reported to continue in the coming days in order to rescue the captive women and children.

The YJŞ Command gave information about the operation and announced the operation will continue and the details will be shared with the public later. The statement reads, “The first step of the Operation to Revenge of the Yezidi Women has been completed. On this basis, we reinforce our positions. In scope of the operation, our special team has launched secret operations in order to rescue Êzidî women and children, who are held captive by Daesh. 3 women and 5 children have been rescued from gangs. Our team launched this operation with great care and sensitivity and liberated these people and transported them to their families. The primary purpose of our operation is to make Êzidî women and their lands free. Our struggle will continue until we liberate our people and lands.”

The YJŞ pointed out that they haven’t released the footages of the operation because the family’s members of the people, who have been rescued, are still held captive by gangs and they don’t want these people face any difficulties during the operation. The YJŞ said, “Every rescued woman is one step to victory for us. As the YJŞ, the reason for our being is to provide freedom to Êzidî women and that’s why each woman, who is rescued, becomes the reason for our struggle and strength us. We fight for a new life with women’s color and power against the thousand-year male-dominant mindset. We will be untiring until our people to be rescued and all our villages to be liberated. We are the hope of our people.”

Êzidî women also support the operation launched by the YŞJ. The women said, “Today, Êzidî women pick up weapons and protect their lands and us. What could be more beautiful than that. We are proud of the YJŞ. They are honor.”
