NEWS CENTER – Rachel Bryk, a 23-year-old software developer from New Jersey, took her own life last week after long and brutal transphobic bullying online.
Rachel jumped off the George Washington Bridge one week ago. Her body has still not been found. She was known as an active and successful developer on the emulator software Dolphin.
On April 7, after Rachel wrote online about her experience of transphobic bullying and harassment from online trolls and said she would kill herself, commenters encouraged her to “do it already.” She left behind an automatically generated Tweet eight hours after her suicide that said “Guess I’m dead. Killed myself. Sorry.”
